A Jil Sander Farewell

On Saturday, Raf Simons presented his final collection for Jil Sander and a beautiful farewell it was.  I'm generally not a minimalist girl but something about Raf's collections for Jil Sander really appeals to me.  The bold, streamlined shapes and selective use of color makes for a collection that may be chic but never boring.  Although we're still not sure where Raf is headed to next, we do know that Jil Sander herself will be returning to her namesake house to take over were Raf left off.  Good luck to her.  That's going to be a hard act to follow.

Best of the 2012 Oscars!

The Oscars were on Sunday night and while most of the attendees were predictably boring (Angelina Jolie in black; Rooney Mara in Givenchy) there were a few interesting choices and some overall gorgeous looks.

First up, Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji.  Definitely one of my top 2 for the night.  She looks amazing and the fit of this dress is perfection.  Congratulations to Octavia on her gorgeous look and Best Supporting Actress win!

After Tom Ford complained last week about how no one wants to take a risk on the Oscars red carpet, Gwyneth Paltrow wore a Tom Ford dress with a cape to the ceremony last night.  The cape really elevates what would otherwise be a rather boring white column and Gwyneth pulls it off looking effortlessly chic.

Jennifer Lopez wore a low cut Zuhair Murad with funky arm cutouts.  I think she looks fabulous even despite the controversial nip slip.

Battling it out with Octavia for my favorite look of the night is Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton.  I don't always love what Michelle wears but I do always look forward to her choices as they usually aren't boring.  Her Oscar choice was a hit for me.  I absolutely love the bold color and the adorable little bow at the waist.

Prints aren't very common on the red carpet so it was nice to see one done well with Natalie Portman's Christian Dior gown.

Busy Phillips wore a rather boring strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress but I absolutely love her earrings.  Accessories can make or break and outfit and I think these gorgeous danglers saved Busy's look from being too boring.

There were also some gorgeous looks at the Vanity Fair Oscar party.  Some of my favorites included Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein, Jennifer Lopez in another Zuhair Murad, Elizabeth Banks in Chadwick Bell and Cameron Diaz in Victoria Beckham.

OMG Prada!

I'm a sucker for embellishment so naturally I loved Prada's latest collection.  Embellishments, bright colors and crazy shoes.  That's pretty much the holy fashion trifecta for me.  And the bags!  Holy cats, the bags!  I would die for a plexi and crystal encrusted Prada handbag.  Everyone needs one!  This is definitely one of my favorite collections so far this season.  And we haven't even got to Paris yet!
